The childcare voucher scheme is now closed to new members but if you are currently a member of the scheme, you can save up to £933 a year on the cost of childcare with childcare vouchers.
You can use the vouchers to pay registered childcare providers including childminders, nurseries, pre-schools, holiday play schemes, after-school clubs and crèches.
How the childcare voucher scheme works
Co-op’s childcare voucher scheme is a salary sacrifice arrangement. You'll give up part of your salary to buy up to £55 of tax and National Insurance-free childcare vouchers each week.
The amount you can save on childcare costs depends on how much income tax and National Insurance you pay. The agreed reduction will then be made from your salary.
Childcare vouchers will be credited to your online account. You can use your online account to make direct payments to your registered childcare provider, either through a standing order or with one-off payments.
How to update or amend your childcare account
Call the Co-operative Flexible Benefits Helpdesk on 0800 458 7929 (9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday).
You will need your National Insurance number and childcare provider contact information.
You will need to enter an employer’s account number. For all colleagues it’s 85004149, except for Insurance and CFSMS colleagues who should use 85004271.
Other ways to save on childcare
There are several other government-led schemes available which could save you money on childcare.
Depending on your income, your personal circumstances and the age of your child, you may be able to save more with one of these other schemes.
