From the 3 - 29 May, causes in your community will be able to apply for funding from the Local Community Fund. Local groups can find out more and apply at coop.co.uk/causes.

The Local Community Fund supports projects across the UK that our members care about and help us deliver our vision ‘Co-operating for a fairer world’. Since 2016 over 30,000 projects have shared a staggering £85 million.

What projects will the fund support?

In line with our vision to make life fairer for our communities, our community plan focuses on fairer access to food, mental wellbeing and opportunities for young people. The Local Community Fund will support community projects that:

  • Bring people together to access food
  • Help improve people's mental wellbeing
  • Create opportunities for young people to be heard and make a difference
  • Help people protect local biodiversity or tackle climate change by reducing carbon emissions

You can view a guide with more information about the themes here.

Please help us raise awareness about this fantastic opportunity for local community groups. We need your help to make sure we support the right causes in your communities. We’ve created promotional assets to help, such as Facebook and Twitter Headers, E-mail signatures and editable posters.

Supporting local causes beyond funding

When a group applies for the Local Community Fund, we’ll also connect them to Co-operate our online community centre, where they can come together and benefit from help and support from like-minded people and causes. This is an exciting development which shows the power of co-operation beyond funding.
